My family has always gathered for food, fireworks, and fun on the 4th of July. To help you get your celebration started, try these sweet recipes.

Red, White, and Blue Cheesecake Strawberries

INGREDIENTS

1 (8-oz.) block cream cheese

1/3 c. powdered sugar

1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

1 c. Cool Whip10 strawberries, halved

30 blueberries 

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a medium bowl using a hand mixer, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until fluffy and combined. Fold in Cool Whip.
  2. Transfer mixture to a piping bag and pipe over cut side of strawberry. 
  3. Top with blueberries and serve.

Firecracker Milkshake

INGREDIENTS

1 half g. vanilla ice cream

3 drops red food coloring

3 drops blue food coloring

DIRECTIONS

  1. Soften ice cream to a soft serve/yogurt texture. Evenly divide ice cream into three bowls.
  2. Place red food coloring in one bowl and blue food coloring in the other, using a whisk beat each bowl until color is well blended.
  3. Layer bottom of glass with red ice cream, then plain vanilla and blue ice cream, using long spoon or knife drag it from the bottom to the top, stirring in between to mix the color (do not overmix).
  4. Optional decorating idea: Finish with whipped cream and red, white and blue confetti

July 4th S’mores Dip

INGREDIENTS

4 sheets hershey’s chocolate

19 marshmallows

1 c. water

1 c. red, white, and blue sanding sugar

Graham crackers, for serving 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 450°.
  2. In a square glass pan, place a layer of Hershey’s to cover the bottom of the pan.
  3. Dip 5 marshmallows in water and roll them in blue sanding sugar. Place on parchment paper to dry.
  4. Repeat this process to make 6 red marshmallows and 8 white marshmallows.
  5. Using kitchen shears, cut each marshmallow in half.
  6. Place marshmallows cut side down on the chocolate to form a flag.
  7. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes and serve with graham crackers.
